Customised,
'hands-on' copywriting training courses for companies and other organisations
are a great way of enabling staff to develop individual copywriting skills for
print and online in a focused but relaxed setting. They're
also an excellent opportunity to build in-house copywriting 'awareness' in general
- and improve the way copy is briefed and managed within the creative process.
Recent
Tim Trout Copywriting course clients have included:
Assureweb Business West City and County of Swansea
ITV DVD Goodrich Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Mother
Tongue Writers Nokia NTT Fundraising TC Group
TheTrainline.com Wessex Water
Because
each client has different needs and priorities, all copywriting training courses
are customised on a 'mix and match' basis drawing from the following areas, with
new, client-specific material built-in as required: -
What makes good copy? And what can make it fail?
-
How to structure and write a copywriting brief
- Copywriting for websites
and search engines (SEO)
- DM (direct marketing) copy for print and email
- Copywriting for leaflets, brochures and annual reviews / reports
-
Structuring and writing press ads
- How to write - and 'sell' - a press
release
- Researching and writing for newsletters
- Grammar: does
it matter? And, if it does, which bits?
- Identifying - and using - the
right tone of voice
- Developing themes and ideas
- Copy checking
and proofreading techniques
When and where are TTC copywriting training courses held? Courses are 'workshop'
in style and scheduled to suit individual client requirements. I often hold them
on client premises if it's practical and convenient to do so. Sessions can take
place in a training suite or any other suitable workspace as long as there's room
for the delegates and presenter, plus a flipchart/whiteboard and projector screen.
Delegates
also require access to a PC or laptop, working either solo or in pairs, for practical
sessions. If no 'in-house' facility is available, an appropriate space can easily
be sourced in a hotel, business centre or other appropriate location. Just ask,
and I'll investigate the options.
How long do courses last? Some clients prefer a number of shorter, half-day
sessions; others opt for an intensive full day or two. I can devise workshops
to suit your priorities and schedule.
Is there a preferred minimum - or maximum - class size? Since all my courses
are interactive, and effective learning thrives on discussion, between 2 and 8
delegates is ideal. However, one-to-one sessions are excellent for sharpening
up specific skills; larger groups can also be accommodated on request. Email
